We’re accepting applications for trees plantings in your neighborhood!
Any neighborhood located in Greenville County can apply to partner with TreesUpstate on a ReLEAF Community Tree Planting.
Where do we plant?
Together with homeowners and volunteers, we plant on private and public property. We plant in front yards, back yards, side yards, and neighborhood green spaces. We do not plant in SC DOT right of way. We do not plant in City of Greenville right of way.
How does it work?
Step 1: Someone from your neighborhood (maybe you) applies to be selected for a community tree planting.
Step 2: TreesUpstate’s Forestry Staff will work with your Resident Coordinator to plan and organize a community tree planting. TreesGreenville will help each participating resident select the right tree for the right place. On planting day, we’ll bring tools and be there to train community volunteers. Trees beautify a neighborhood. Trees also increase property value, lower monthly energy bills, and improve air quality.
How much does it cost us to participate?
TreesUpstate provides a match for all tree plantings. The full cost to TreesUpstate to plant one tree is $200+. This includes site visits, site analysis, site planning, species selection, nursery stock selection, trees, soil, mulch, amendments, project management, and tree installation. There is a sliding scale Fee-for-Tree you will be responsible for that is based on home value. Trees are provided free to participating residents in communities being revitalized in low to moderate income neighborhoods.
The sliding scale fee-for-tree
In neighborhoods being revitalized with mixed demographics (i.e., demolish and rebuilds) the cost for each resident varies based on the home value. Some of the trees may be FREE. Some of the trees may have a fee.
In neighborhoods where all of the homes have similar values, the fee is based on an average for the neighborhood.
TreesUpstate Sliding Scale –
If Your Home Value or Average is Then Your Cost to Participate is:
< $144,999 FREE Tree / No Cost
$145,000 to $175,999 $20 / 15 gallon tree
$176,000 to $215,999 $45 / 15 gallon tree
$216,000 to $264,000 $85 / 15 gallon tree
>$264,000 $100 / 15 gallon tree
